How to get married in New Zealand- all the legal requirements necessary to get married in New Zealand
Marriage Licence- Before getting married you need to apply for a Marriage Licence. Marriages.services.govt.nz . You can now complete the legal formalities required for your wedding day, online.
Marriage Certificate- Straight after the ceremony, your celebrant will ask you to sign two copies of the Copy of Particulars form — one for you to keep and one they'll send to Births, Deaths and Marriages so your marriage can be registered. You can order a marriage certificate from Births, Deaths and Marriages after your marriage has been registered.
Planning Your Wedding Day
What you need to do.....
Set a date, plan your wedding, choose a celebrant- the fun stuff!
Complete your marriage licence application and order your marriage certificate
Pay the marriage license and certificate fees
Visit a registry office to make a statutory declaration
Get your marriage licence and two copies of the Copy of Particulars
GET MARRIED!!!
Your celebrant will send 1 Copy of Particulars to the Department of Internal Affairs to register your marriage. You keep the other one
Your marriage certificate will be sent to you once the Deptartment of Internal Affairs has registered your marriage
